Hi! My name is Lisa Harrison, and I am the artist behind Mildly Wild Creative. I have been expressing myself creatively since childhood. I grew up in New Brunswick! I am a multimedia artist graduate with a BAA from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design / University of New Brunswick. I moved west to Calgary for a few years after finishing school. My passion for winter sports prompted me to make a move to a mountain town! I made my way to Nelson in 2011 for what was supposed to be just one season of snowboarding. After sticking around for the summer, I knew this was my place! I now live in Crescent Valley, in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia; and am happy to call it home.

I’ve had a creative urge my entire life. I look at everything with a painter’s eye and am endlessly inspired by nature. Although I dabble in many forms of art, my attention at this time is on my painting, primarily focusing on animals and winter landscapes. My subjects are a reflection of my inner and outer exploration and lived experiences. Through the use of bright colours and negative space, I aim to capture vulnerable beauty with a whimsical and feral edge. These pieces are acrylic on birch panels. I use fluorescent paint on many of my works. It has a bold edge and the brightness and vibrancy command attention by being illuminated from within. It also looks badass under UV lights.
